I’m still smiling thinking about our absolutely brilliant weekend on Sado Island! 

That two-and-a-half-hour ferry ride from Naoetsu Port was such a great way to kick things off, and then cycling the 30km across to our campsite was a real adventure. The stops for morning tea and lunch along the way were perfectly timed and so enjoyable – just what we needed! And then, the evening! The BBQ was delicious, and watching that beautiful sunset together over the island was truly special.

The next morning, exploring some ancient temples was fascinating – so much history to see! The 50km return trip certainly felt like an accomplishment, and that visit to the onsen was the perfect reward for our efforts. What a treat! To top it all off, seeing another stunning sunset over that incredibly calm sea on the ferry back to Naoetsu was just the perfect end to an amazing couple of days. Even arriving back at 8:30 PM felt good after such a fulfilling trip.

It truly was a memorable weekend, packed with great cycling, beautiful sights, delicious food, and, most importantly, wonderful company.
